Antique Boulle Stationery Box

A superb antique Boulle domed top stationery box made by one of the best Victorian box makers Hallstaff and Hanniford. Boulle is the name given to intricate foliate brass and tortoiseshell work and this box is decorated on all surfaces i.e. front, top, sides and back. The lift up domed lid is lined with the original red velvet and reveals five compartments for storing envelopes, cards and paper. The maker`s label can be seen in the middle compartment. The edge of the lid and the edge of the inside of the box is inlaid with fine decorative brass stringing. c.1860. Measures 19 cms x 10 cms. x 14.5 cms maximum. N.B.
