Antique Georgian Tortoiseshell and Mother-of-Pearl Tea Caddy
A superb Georgian Tortoiseshell and Mother-of-Pearl tea caddy c.1810. The pagoda shaped lid has very fine pewter stringing inlay, a silver plaque in the centre and Mother-of-Pearl inlaid at the front. It is edged in ivory. The front of the caddy is profusely inlaid with Mother-of-Pearl in a pattrn of flowers and leaves. The lift-up lid reveals twin compartments each with a tortoiseshell lid with ivory knob. It has its original red velvet lining in the lid. The facings of the caddy are ivory.The caddy stands on squashed ball feet and measures 17.5cm wide x 11.25cm deep x 15cm max. high.
