Georgian Mahogany Tea Caddy
A fine Georgian mahogany and boxwood single compartment tea caddy c.1800. The front has a rope effect inlay and bone diamond shaped escutcheon. The lid is crossbanded and has a very fine rope effect inlay. There is a sunflower inlaid in the centre of the lid with a brass handle. Each side and back of the caddy has boxwood inlay. The underside of the lid was made to match the inner top of the caddy. The lift-off lid reveals a single compartment. The tasselled key is for decorative purposes only. Height 11.5cm. Width 12.25cm.
