Georgian Mahogany Tea Caddy

A Georgian mahogany single compartment tea caddy c.1810. The lid and front are decorated with fine harewood and boxwood inlay to give a rope effect. The front of the caddy has a kite shaped bone escutcheon and tasselled key which is for decorative purposes only. The lid has a small brass lifting handle which is surrounded by more rope effect inlay. The lid retains its original lining and the tea compartment has a lift-off lid with brass knob. Width 11.25cm.
